Telegram Frank, Hope and Anchor, 27th June 2008

So last friday saw a hurried pick up from town, a thrash down the M1 and a hurried train journey into central London. The reasoning being to catch Telegram Frank (aka Frank the Baptist solo) first gig in the UK. He was up first on the bill with the rest of the night (or at least the bits we saw moving onto more of a college/grunge type sound). Not a huge turnout, but at least there were some people there. Pretty good set, various Frank classics and some new stuff. The old stuff was sensibly picked to make the most of not having a full band backing him. Bit of a short set, but then again at least it’s a start. But at 120 miles it was the shortest journey I’ve had to make to see him perform.
