Solar eclipses are so spectacular enough from earth (having only seen one ‘in the flesh’ myself), but these photos from NASA show just how they look from orbit:

That’s the shadow of the moon moving across the Earth. It’s just amazing to see how much area is covered, and it shows all the different areas. In the centre there’s the zone of total darkness and towards the edges the areas that only experience a dimming.
